Protecting Your Shipments: A Guide to KloudShip Insurance
Shipping can be unpredictable, but your coverage shouldn't be. While most new goods and merchandise are covered when you opt in, there are specific items and conditions you should know about to ensure your claim is valid.
What is covered in insurance?
Insurance is available on new goods and merchandise of every description, including:
- All items where the Invoice is attached up to the declared value of Rs 10 lac per day
- Excluding items that are exempt from the insurance policy
What items are exempt from insurance?
The following categories of goods are excluded from insurance coverage. Please review this list carefully before opting in.
- Bulk shipment unless carried in ISO Tank containers or purpose-built road or rail tank conveyance.
- Bloodstock, livestock, and living creatures.
- Bottled spirit.
- Cigarettes.
- Deeds, securities, treasury notes, and the like, including Passports.
- Designs, patterns, plans, manuscripts, and all such documents.
- Antiques, Works of arts and fine arts.
- Money (Including bank notes and coin currencies)
- Precious stones and metals (Including but not limited to bullion and jewelry)
- Stamps, Duty Stamps, Tickets, and the like
- Motor vehicles, aircraft, watercraft, and the like
- Arms, ammunitions and explosives
- Cement
- Charity goods and/or humanitarian aid
- Furs and fur garments
- Household goods and personal effects
- Prototypes and one-of-a-kind interest
- Gases (Including compressed air from gas appliances)
- Indian Postal Articles
- Poisonous /Toxic Articles
- Radioactive materials
- Over-dimensional Cargo (ODC): Any cargo that, because of its weight or volume, requires a special conveyance. This includes any item (including packing) that does not fit inside a standard 40’ container or equivalent road trailer, with dimensions exceeding:
- Length: more than 12 metres
- Width: more than 2.5 metres
- Height: more than 2.5 metres
- Any individual item (including packing) weighing more than 20 MT
Any item requiring special handling due to irregular footprint, off-balance centre of gravity, or special lashing/securing requirements.
How to raise a claim?
If your shipment is lost, damaged, or stolen during transit, here is how to get the claim process started. Our team handles the rest
- Contact KloudShip Support: Reach out to our support team and share your shipment details along with a description of the issue (loss, damage, or theft). Attach any photos or evidence you have.
- We Coordinate with the Carrier: Our team will work directly with the carrier to collect the Certificate of Facts (COF) document and any additional supporting evidence required for the claim.
- Claim is Processed: Once all documentation is in order, KloudShip coordinates with HDFC Ergo to process your claim. You will be kept informed at every stage.
